What is VolunTourism?
Have you wanted to travel to enjoy Africa's beautiful landscape and culture, but also wanted to get off the tourist trail and see what daily life is really like for Tanzanians still living off the land and in traditional boma huts? IEFT understands the power of human capital and offers both short- and long-term programs to fit your aspirations. IEFT welcomes groups, both large and small, families, church groups and work teams, who are willing to get dirty, experience some amazing life lessons and have some fun along the way!
IEFT can put together travel plans for groups of all ages and sizes and can include some or all of the following:
• Safari through the Serengeti Plains and watch the famous wildebeest migration
 • Enjoy the beautiful Ngorongoro Crater and view the flamingos at the edge of Lake Manyara

•Trek through the forests at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro or summit Africa's highest free-standing peak
Experience life in a traditional Maasai village, and possibly attend a rite of passage ceremony. Drink local Maasai medicinal tea and hear stories told by local elders with the assistance of your own personal translator

• Relax on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar Island. Snorkle in the shallow waters or swim with dolphins off a sandbar
 • Learn about the history of ancient Portugese and Omani Arab trade routes with a spice tour of Old Stone Town on Zanzibar Island
• Visit a Maasai secondary school and spend a day in a classroom, assist with building construction or teach indigenous students a new game or activity from your area of the world!

Volunteer Testimonials
Chris Korpi, Volunteer in 2008
What inspired you to volunteer with IEFT?
"Meeting the kids and their families and seeing the joy in everyone's face. Here are people that have nothing but love life, family and themselves more then most people I know in other parts of the world that are surrounded by material things and wealth. Literally, for a few hundred dollars or a dozen hours you can change the lives of hundreds of people and make a major change in the world."
Jenny Walker, Volunteer Teacher in 2008
What did you like best about volunteering with IEFT?
"The students of Orkeeswa  Secondary School inspire me in tremendous ways and have taught me more than I will ever be able to teach them.  Their determination in their studies and their joy in life stay with me every day. The founders and staff of the organization have shown me the incredible things that can be accomplished by a small group of people with enormous hearts. Volunteering with IEFT has not only changed my life, but it has changed me and my outlook on the world. I can’t thank IEFT enough."
Jeff Britton, Volunteer Teacher in 2008
What did you like best about volunteering with IEFT?
"Volunteering with IEFT has enabled me to begin making a difference in our global community, and has opened my eyes to the opportunities awaiting anyone who shares my desire to be a difference-maker."

"It really is a great school because it provides education to children who do not have parents and do not have the money to pay for school fees at other secondary schools in the area."
